Compare Embrace to ASPCA Pet Health Insurance

ASPCA Pet Health Insurance's policy lacks much of the flexibility of Embrace's offering. Fewer deductible options make it harder to get an affordable plan and the itemized limits on ASPCA Pet Health Insurance's wellness plan will have you struggling to get the full value each year. Finally, ASPCA Pet Health Insurance does not offer a medical history review when you enroll, so you may be surprised by unexpected pre-existing condition decisions come claim time.

10 Reasons to Consider Embrace over ASPCA Pet Health Insurance

Embrace Pet Insurance vs Trupanion Pet Insurance

1. ASPCA Pet Health Insurance has Itemized Limitations for Wellness Plans

Because of the per-item limits, any leftover funds in their set categories are lost if they’re not used. Plus, their two wellness plans don’t cover the same things, so it can be tricky to pick the best plan for you.

Embrace promotes, rewards, and encourages healthy pets by offering Wellness Rewards, an optional non-insurance product that reimburses for everyday veterinary, grooming, and training costs with no itemized limits. And our wellness covers all the same things no matter which limit you select.

2. Embrace Offers More Deductible Options that Work with Your Budget

ASPCA Pet Health Insurance only offers $100, $250, and $500 deductible options which can be limiting when it comes to finding the most affordable plan. Embrace offers deductible options up to $1,000 so that you can find the perfect plan for you and your furry friend.

3. Embrace Requires Less Medical History to Process Claims

ASPCA Pet Health Insurance requires a pet’s full medical records to process claims – that could go back many years! Embrace only needs the last 12 months of records or, for new pets, records back to the first visit you’ve had with them.

4. ASPCA Pet Health Insurance Doesn’t Review Medical Records Before Claim Time

ASPCA Pet Health Insurance does not offer any review of a pet’s medical records at enrollment, leaving it to be done when the first claim is filed. Embrace offers you an optional Medical History Review. If your pet has any pre-existing conditions, this review will let you know how they could affect your coverage moving forward.

5. Embrace Covers Crowns, Implants, and Root Canals

With Embrace's dental illness coverage, we cover anything that your pet needs to resolve a dental illness including crowns, crown amputations, implants, fillings, root canals, and planing. ASPCA Pet Health Insurance excludes all of those from their coverage.

6. Change Coverage Anytime with Embrace

ASPCA Pet Health Insurance only allows changes to coverage at the start of a new policy period (once per year). With Embrace, you can make changes to your coverage at any time.

7. Embrace Includes Coverage for Medical Waste Fees

This fee is usually under $10 but it’s still part of the bill – and if your pet is seen weekly or monthly, it can add up. ASPCA Pet Health Insurance doesn’t cover this fee. Embrace includes this coverage in our policy at no extra cost.

8. Embrace Covers Working, Law Enforcement, and Guarding Activities

ASPCA Pet Health Insurance doesn’t cover injury or illness that a pet sustains while working, including those in law enforcement and guarding. As long as you let us know that your pet is involved in any of these activities at the start of your plan, or when your pet becomes involved in one of these activities, Embrace will cover them.

9. Embrace Allows More Time to Submit Claims

ASPCA Pet Health Insurance requires claims be submitted within 270 days of the office visit. Embrace gives you your entire policy term, plus 60 days after it renews to submit claims.

10. ASPCA Pet Health Insurance Doesn’t Offer 24/7 Pet Health Line

ASPCA Pet Health Insurance does not give their policyholders access to Pet Pros round-the-clock, so if you have questions about your pet’s behavior, diet, or a possible emergency, you’d have to wait for your vet’s regular business hours. Embrace has partnered with PawSupport to give our policyholders access to Pet Pros 24 hours a day, seven days a week – even on holidays. And the best part is that this feature is included with every policy at no extra cost.
